Tonight six to eight inches of promised snow and a day off from school turned all into cold rain.

The ball was cancelled; the coach turned back into a pumpkin; the coachmen are all brown mice again, and Cinderella, who never had a chance to try on her new dress, is set back to work polishing the silver. The snowboarders are faring no better.

Lovely two-inch flakes they were that fell, and for a whole hour. In the classroom this afternoon, with windows all around, we couldn’t keep our eyes off them.
